St. Benilde clinches victory over San Beda, 70-65 in OT, solidifying top contender status

College of St. Benilde maintained its unbeaten record in NCAA Season 100 by defeating San Beda Red Lions, 70-65, in overtime on Tuesday at the FilOil EcoOil Centre.

Jhommel Ancheta led the Blazers with a crucial performance, scoring 14 points and making key assists, including a three-pointer that put Benilde ahead with only 19.7 seconds left in regulation.

The victory marks back-to-back wins for St. Benilde against both finalists of last season's NCAA men's basketball tournament, solidifying their position as a strong contender in the Centennial season.

Allen Liwag contributed a double-double of 12 points and 14 rebounds while Tony Ynot added 13 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and a steal to support Ancheta’s efforts.

San Beda was led by Bryan Sajonia with 19 points and five rebounds.
