Duterte orders troops to 'shoot' lockdown violators

President Rodrigo Duterte ordered police and military on Wednesday, April 1, to 'shoot' residents causing trouble during the lockdown due to the novel coronavirus.

The order came after 21 Quezon City residents were arrested for protesting without a permit; there are conflicting accounts about whether those arrested were all protesting or just looking for food.

Duterte also warned left-wing groups and Kadamay, an urban poor group, against instigating unrest, threatening to detain and punish protesters.
