Over a thousand military infected with COVID-19

As of August 8, over a thousand personnel in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) have been infected with COVID-19, totaling 1,137 cases.

Ten military members have died from the virus, including a senior officer who passed away at V. Luna Medical Hospital on August 6.

Of the total infections, 516 personnel have recovered and returned to duty, while 138 are awaiting medical clearance.

The AFP chief is monitoring these developments closely and has directed unit commanders to take measures to contain further spread of the virus.
