Hontiveros warns gov workers against treating arrested Guo like celebrity

Senator Risa Hontiveros warned government workers against treating dismissed Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo like a celebrity after photos emerged of officials posing with her.

Guo was arrested in Indonesia on Wednesday for human trafficking and other charges, including money laundering and failure to attend Senate hearings.

She was transferred into the custody of Philippine authorities on Thursday by Indonesian police, during which she appeared cheerful and held up her thumbs in a gesture indicating she is well.

Upon her return to the Philippines on Friday, new photos emerged showing Guo smiling alongside NBI and Bureau of Immigration agents while being escorted, sparking further criticism for perceived unprofessional behavior.

Villanueva earlier condemned these actions as 'unprofessional,' emphasizing that Guo faces serious charges and should not be treated casually.

The 33-year-old former mayor was dismissed in July after failing to attend Senate hearings regarding a raided POGO hub in her town, where human trafficking allegations were also filed against her.
