Senate cites Bamban mayor in contempt for false testimony on identity

The Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality cited dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo in contempt again for testifying falsely about her identity during a hearing on Monday, September 9.

Guo's fingerprints matched those of Chinese national Guo Hua Ping but she continued to insist that she is Filipino despite repeated evidence suggesting otherwise.

Senator Jinggoy Estrada expressed disbelief over Guo’s claim that no Filipinos were involved in their escape from the country and questioned her account of receiving threats.

The Bureau of Immigration confirmed there are no Philippine immigration stamps in Guo's passport, indicating an illegal departure.

Guo claimed a foreign woman helped them leave the country but refused to name this person publicly for security reasons.
