VP Sara: Losing partner worse than impeachment

Vice President Sara Duterte stated on Friday during a press conference that losing a partner is more painful than being impeached by the House of Representatives.

Duterte's comparison drew criticism, with some interpreting it as an indication of her lack of respect for democratic processes and constitutional safeguards.

Last Wednesday, Duterte was impeached with 79 votes in favor from 215 lawmakers who endorsed the complaint.

The Senate will convene as an impeachment court once it resumes session in June to try Duterte.

Duterte assured her supporters that she is not considering resigning from her position at this time.
