Sara Duterte says 'okay' after impeachment, invokes God's protection

Vice President Sara Duterte stated on Friday that she is 'okay' following her impeachment by the House of Representatives and invoked God's protection for the Philippines.

Duterte said she has been consulting with her legal team since November 2023 when plans to file an impeachment complaint were revealed, adding that she knows the penalties of impeachment and had thought about them before resigning from her previous positions.

In her press conference, Duterte thanked supporters for their prayers and support, urging them to have faith in the people's victory.

Akbayan Party-List Rep. Perci Cendaña criticized Duterte's invocation of God as 'deeply ironic' given the allegations against her.

Senate President Francis Escudero suggested that the trial might extend into the next Congress due to the election schedule, potentially affecting its outcome.
