San Beda Red Lions win overtime thriller, extend streak to three

San Beda Red Lions secured a thrilling overtime victory over Mapua Cardinals, extending their winning streak to three games dating back to last season's finals with a score of 76-69 on Tuesday, October 8.

Yuki Andrada led San Beda with a team-high 18 points and nine rebounds, while Clint Escamis scored 19 points but shot just 7-of-19 from the field for Mapua.

San Beda coach Yuri Escueta credited his players' defensive efforts, noting that mental toughness was key against Mapua's Escamis and Cuenco, who combined to score 39 points but struggled with shooting efficiency in the second half.

The victory keeps San Beda in a three-way tie for second place with Mapua and Letran in the NCAA Season 100 men's basketball standings, creating a tight race for the second seed as College of St. Benilde leads with a 7-2 record.

Mapua coach Randy Alcantara acknowledged his team's defensive lapses and fourth-quarter collapses as their main issues this season but remains optimistic about turning things around in the upcoming matches.
