Russia can produce COVID-19 vaccines for PH as early as January

Philippine Ambassador Carlos Sorreta says Russia could start producing coronavirus vaccines for the Philippines as early as January if the country is ready.

Sorreta stated that Russia's Sputnik V vaccine has shown 92% effectiveness in preventing virus transmission based on interim trial results.

The DOH and DoST are currently in talks with Russian officials regarding vaccine development and co-production agreements.

Priority groups such as the poor, security forces, government frontline workers, and healthcare personnel will receive the vaccines first if approved.
