5 potential COVID-19 vaccines seek clinical trials in Philippines

Five potential COVID-19 vaccines have been submitted for clinical trials in the Philippines.

The vaccines include Sinovac from China, Janssen, Sputnik V from Russia, Clover Biopharmaceuticals, and AstraZeneca.

To conduct trials, these vaccines must secure clearance from a DOST panel of vaccine experts, followed by approval from the Ethics Board and FDA.

According to FDA Director General Eric Domingo, Sinovac is the only one cleared so far by the DOST panel and is currently under evaluation by the FDA.
