PH aims for 50-60% vaccine coverage for herd immunity

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire stated that at least half of the Philippines' population needs to be vaccinated for herd immunity against COVID-19.

A recent Social Weather Stations survey found that 66% of Filipinos are willing to get a vaccine if available, with 32% definitely getting it and 34% probably getting it.

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque expressed satisfaction with the survey results, indicating trust in the government's vaccination program.

Vergeire also mentioned that the government plans to initially vaccinate around 50% to 60% of the population, up from an initial plan of 20%, and is prioritizing certain sectors such as the poor, security forces, and healthcare workers.
