Bello proposes sending nurses to UK for vaccines

Labor and Employment Secretary Silvestre Bello III proposed to the UK for COVID-19 vaccines in exchange for deploying Filipino nurses, after the UK requested exemption from a 5,000 deployment cap.

Bello suggested that before sending healthcare workers, especially nurses due to high COVID cases in the UK, they should be pre-vaccinated with vaccines provided by the UK.

Malacañang welcomed Bello's proposal and clarified that President Duterte was not consulted about this plan; however, it is seen as an idea of more being better than less.
