Robredo urges respect for Chinese amid coronavirus, backs flight ban

Vice President Leni Robredo urged Filipinos to refrain from discriminating against Chinese nationals amid the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Robredo emphasized that blaming or discriminating against Chinese individuals is unjust as they too are victims of the virus.

On January 31, Robredo also supported calls for a total ban on flights from China following the confirmation of a case in the Philippines and the WHO's declaration of a global health emergency.

She stressed the need for immediate action to protect Filipinos and called for swift implementation of recommendations such as imposing travel bans.
