Robredo taps designers for PPEs, seeks medical-grade fabric

Vice President Leni Robredo turned to Filipino fashion designers to help produce personal protective equipment (PPE) for medical frontliners during the coronavirus pandemic.

Fashion designers worked over 48 hours to create a prototype, which was approved by local and international experts on Sunday, March 29.

The approved design uses Taffeta Silver Back Lining and was created by designer Joey Socco.

Robredo called on suppliers to provide medical-grade fabric needed for local designers to produce PPEs during her Biserbisyong Leni radio show.

Her office has raised over P37 million to fund the purchase of PPEs, but only some 32,325 sets out of the planned 83,859 were obtained due to worldwide shortages.
