Toddler survives SCTEX crash; loses both parents, five vehicles, ten dead

A relative has arrived at Tarlac Provincial Hospital to care for a 2-year-old boy who survived a multiple-vehicle collision on the SCTEX and lost both parents.

The accident, which occurred earlier on Labor Day, involved five vehicles and resulted in ten fatalities, including four children, and left 37 others injured.

Jaime Santos reported that the toddler is the son of a female Philippine Coast Guard personnel who was en route to Baguio for vacation when the tragedy struck.

Medical tests showed normal results but recommended transferring him to a hospital near his relatives.

Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon ordered the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board to issue an immediate suspension order against Solid North Transit, Inc.
