12 die, over 20 injured in multi-vehicle collision on SCTEX

Twelve people died and over 20 others were injured in a multi-vehicle collision at the Tarlac City Toll Plaza Exit on Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway.

The crash involved four vehicles: a bus, an 18-wheeler truck, a van, and a crossover SUV.

Tarlac City Governor Susan A. Yap condoled with the families of the ten fatalities and expressed sympathy to the 37 injured individuals following the collision on May 1.

Among the survivors were the driver of the Urvan and the baby inside another vehicle; passengers on the bus suffered only minor injuries.

The Tarlac Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office reported that the impact was severe, with victims being completely crushed in two vehicles.

Police are investigating the incident, and traffic along SCTEX has since normalized.
