DILG considers extending cash aid payout deadline

The Department of the Interior and Local Government is considering extending the 15-day deadline for local government units to distribute cash assistance in the NCR Plus bubble, based on LGU requests and case-by-case basis.

Interior Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya noted that some LGUs, like Quezon City which comprises almost 30% of Metro Manila's population, are struggling to meet the deadline due to varying sizes and populations.

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte expressed concern over maintaining social distancing during distribution if rushed to complete payouts within 15 days.
