UST women's volleyball team clinches Final Four spot with rookie Poyos' record-breaking performance

University of Santo Tomas clinched a spot in the UAAP Season 86 women's volleyball Final Four with a comeback victory over Adamson University on Wednesday at Mall of Asia Arena.

Rookie Angge Poyos led UST to the win, scoring an impressive 31 points and setting a new record for a rookie player in a single game with 27 attacks, three aces, and one block.

Poyos took advantage of the Holy Week break to recover physically and mentally, returning to practice on Easter Sunday and visiting her family in Bohol.

UST's hard-fought victory came after losing their previous match against National University but saw them ride high on an eight-game winning streak before the break.

Head coach Kung Fu Reyes credited UST's success to thorough preparation and the team's dedication and sacrifices, praising Poyos for exceeding expectations.

UST will face University of the Philippines next Wednesday at Mall of Asia Arena, while Adamson aims to end its losing streak against Far Eastern University on Tuesday.
