DLSU secures playoff spot in UAAP women's volleyball without Canino

De La Salle University (DLSU) secured a playoff spot for a Final Four berth in UAAP Season 86 women's volleyball by defeating the University of the Philippines (UP), despite playing without their star player Angel Canino.

Canino, who sustained injuries from a non-volleyball-related accident and arrived at the venue with a sling on her arm, is expected to miss multiple games until May if she cannot return sooner.

Shevana Laput stepped up with 21 points in Canino's absence, leading DLSU to victory despite a tough four-set match.

Assistant coach Noel Orcullo emphasized that players were ready to step up collectively and fill the gap left by Canino, inspired by her presence on the sidelines.

With Canino's recovery timeline still uncertain, Laput and the Lady Spikers vow to continue working towards their title-retention bid.
