BCPO-CDEU seizes PHP23M worth shabu from high-value drug suspect

Bacolod City Police Office-City Drug Enforcement Unit (BCPO-CDEU) seized a kilogram of shabu worth PHP23 million from Darel Demafiles, 33, during a buy-bust operation on Thursday, October 17.

Demafiles, identified as a high-value drug personality and previously arrested for illegal possession of drugs, was apprehended in Purok Masinadyahon, Barangay 12, amid the MassKara Festival celebrations.

During the arrest, police recovered one kilogram of shabu intended to be sold during the festival's major events.

Lieutenant Colonel Antonio Benitez Jr., chief of CDEU, noted that Demafiles had been arrested previously for drug violations and was linked to a Manila-based source of illegal drugs.

Col. Joeresty Coronica, police city director, credited strengthened intelligence operations for the successful anti-drug efforts during the ongoing MassKara Festival and warned local drug syndicates that authorities would continue intensifying their operations.
