AFP deploys disaster units for Ulysses response

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and Philippine National Police (PNP) have deployed disaster response units across Metro Manila, Bicol, Southern Tagalog regions, and parts of Visayas to assist local government units in rescue operations and aid distribution due to Typhoon Ulysses.

In Metro Manila, two disaster response units were dispatched to Marikina City for evacuations and rescues along the Marikina River and Tullahan River in Caloocan.

The AFP is also coordinating with the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) and local government units to monitor critical areas such as Marikina River, which experienced heavy flooding due to intense rains.

In Rizal province, two water search-and-rescue teams from the 525th Engineering and Construction Brigade are assisting in rescuing residents affected by heavy flooding in San Mateo and Rodriguez municipalities.
