PNP: Odette casualty reports under validation

The Philippine National Police (PNP) clarified on Thursday that all reported incidents related to Typhoon Odette casualties are properly documented and under investigation.

Reports from PNP units are submitted to the Office of Civil Defense (OCD), which, along with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and DILG, validates these reports.

PNP Chief General Dionardo Carlos emphasized that police units exercise due diligence to ensure accurate information.

Interior Secretary Eduardo Año stated on Tuesday that PNP casualty reports are still raw data and need validation by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

Año noted some deaths may not be directly caused by the typhoon, such as those from illness or electrocution after the storm passed.
