DOJ assures aid for Odette-hit workers

DOJ Secretary Menardo Guevarra assured assistance for DOJ employees severely affected by Typhoon Odette on Wednesday.

Guevarra said the department will gather information on affected employees and provide relief aid as they have done in past calamities.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported at least 11 deaths, with validation ongoing for an additional 166 fatalities. The council also noted two confirmed injuries and reports of another 273 injured and 38 missing.

Guevarra requested the NBI forensic group to assist in identifying casualties who cannot be identified by relatives or friends.

Ships are bringing relief goods and medical personnel to affected areas, with the Presidential yacht BRP Ang Pangulo serving as a floating hospital for Dinagat Islands and Siargao.
