PNP deploys 61K officers for Holy Week security

Around 61,000 police personnel have been assigned for security during Holy Week across the country, an increase from the initial deployment of 40,355 officers.

Police General Rommel Marbil stated that 85% of these officers will be deployed on the ground while the remaining 15% will handle administrative tasks.

The designated personnel will focus on securing roads, tourist spots, and houses left unoccupied by owners during vacation.

Marbil advised the public to exercise patience on the road due to expected traffic from strict enforcement of gun bans and urged them to secure their belongings and homes while away.

He also reminded travelers to be cautious to avoid drowning incidents and emphasized that securing homes is crucial when residents are not present.

The PNP remains on heightened alert status throughout Holy Week to ensure public safety.
