PCG deploys 17,000 officers for Holy Week sea travel

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) will deploy 17,000 officers during Holy Week 2025 to secure sea travel for over a million Filipinos heading to the provinces.

Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Semana Santa 2025 will be implemented in coordination with other government security forces, including the Department of Transportation's Maritime Sector and local government units (LGUs).

The PCG plans to monitor passenger volume and conduct thorough port terminal inspections while addressing potential maritime crimes such as robbery incidents.

Last year, around 1.65 million port passengers were monitored by the PCG Command Center during Holy Week, marking a 10-percent increase from 2023; this year, an expected 1.73 million passengers is anticipated, which is 3.5% higher than last year.

PCG personnel will perform 24/7 monitoring of nautical highways and inter-island routes, while K9 units and security teams conduct thorough inspections at terminals and vessels.
