PNP deploys 1K cops to Taal-affected areas

The Philippine National Police (PNP) sent over 1,000 police officers on January 17 to assist with evacuation and disaster response efforts in areas affected by the Taal Volcano eruption.

Brig. Gen. Jonnel Estomo led the Reactionary Standby Support Force (RSSF), deploying 693 officers to Batangas and 324 to Cavite, providing them with protective gear like face masks and goggles.

Earlier on January 14, Interior Secretary Eduardo Año ordered the PNP and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) to deploy personnel from various regions to support affected local government units.

PNP Chief of the Directorial Staff Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar emphasized the importance of police officers showing their training and capability in maintaining peace and order during this crisis.
