PLDT beats Akari 3-0 in PVL All-Filipino Conference

PLDT defeated Akari in a straight-set victory with scores of 25-22, 25-16, and 25-15 during the resumption of the 2024-25 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference on Saturday at PhilSports Arena.

The match marked PLDT's chance for redemption after losing to Akari in a controversial semifinal game last year, with coach Rald Ricafort emphasizing the importance of focusing on the task at hand and not letting heightened emotions affect their performance.

Savi Davison led PLDT's offensive efforts with 15 points, while Majoy Baron contributed 11 points and Erika Santos added 10 points. Kath Arado also excelled defensively with 19 excellent digs.

PLDT players emphasized that the victory was about moving forward rather than seeking revenge for last year’s controversial loss, focusing on their current team composition and upcoming challenges.

The High Speed Hitters now hold the fourth spot in the standings after securing their fourth win in six games and will face Choco Mucho next on Thursday, January 23.
