PHP455M shabu seized, suspect arrested in Zamboanga chase; wife, son injured, ties to previous high-value target investigated

Authorities in Zamboanga City arrested an alleged big-time illegal drug dealer and seized PHP455.6 million worth of suspected shabu on Tuesday evening.

The suspect, identified as Mohammad Ikram, 46, was cornered when his vehicle fell into a rice field during a chase with police agents.

Ikram's wife and son, who were in the car with him, sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital.

During the pursuit, checkpoints were set up throughout the city, but Ikram managed to evade them until he reached Barangay Bunguiao where the arrest took place.

Police seized two luggage containing 67 kilos of suspected shabu from the suspect, who admitted that he was transporting the drugs for a fee to Iligan City.

The police are investigating whether Ikram has ties with another high-value target arrested earlier in Barangay Canelar.
