Philippines Reports 37,070 New COVID-19 Cases on Monday

On Monday, January 17, the Philippines reported 37,070 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of infections to 3,242,374.

The active case count rose to 287,856 with 9,212 asymptomatic and 273,924 mild cases.

Of the new cases, 98% occurred within the last two weeks, primarily in the National Capital Region (NCR), Region IV-A, and Region III.

Total recoveries increased to 2,864,633 after 30,037 more patients recovered, while the death toll climbed to 52,907 with 50 new fatalities.

The positivity rate was at 47.4%, indicating nearly half of tested individuals were positive for COVID-19.
