Philippines receives over 2.6M Pfizer vaccine doses

The Philippines received over 2.6 million doses of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines on December 23 and 24, 2021.

On Thursday, the country got 1,187,550 doses at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3, with another 1,405,170 arriving on Friday through the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

NTF COVID-19 special adviser Ted Herbosa thanked the US government for the vaccine delivery and highlighted the FDA's approval of Pfizer-BioNTech’s vaccine for ages 5 to 11.

Herbosa noted that actual doses for this age group would likely arrive in January, and emphasized ramping up vaccination efforts in areas affected by Typhoon Odette to meet the year-end target of 54 million fully vaccinated individuals.
