Philippines receives first batch of one-shot Sputnik Light vaccine

The Philippines received its first batch of Russia's one-shot Sputnik Light COVID-19 vaccine on Friday, including 5,000 donated doses and 2,805,000 doses of Sputnik V procured by the government.

National Task Force Against COVID-19 chief Carlito Galvez Jr. expressed optimism about negotiating for at least 10 million more doses of Sputnik Light to diversify the country's vaccine portfolio and achieve herd immunity by early 2022.

The Russian Direct Investment Fund reported that Sputnik Light demonstrated 79.4% efficacy in clinical trials, compared to 91.6% for the two-shot Sputnik V.
