Philippines receives 609K Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine doses

The Philippines received an additional 609,570 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine on Thursday night, bringing the total number of vaccines received since February to 129 million.

Assistant Secretary Wilben Mayor thanked the US government for facilitating and donating the latest batch of vaccines through the COVAX facility.

The previous shipment of over 300K doses arrived Monday night, intended primarily for healthcare workers, senior citizens, persons with comorbidities, and indigent populations.

As of Thursday, the Philippines has administered 72 million vaccine doses, with 40.18 million first doses and 32.16 million fully vaccinated individuals representing 42.24% of the target population.
