DOH: Philippines now has 75 COVID-19 referral hospitals

As of April 13, the Philippines now has 75 hospitals dedicated to treating coronavirus patients with a combined capacity of 3,194 beds.

These referral hospitals have centralized medical facilities for COVID-19 treatment, though the full list has not been released yet.

Before this update, only three hospitals in Metro Manila were designated as referral centers: Philippine General Hospital, Lung Center of the Philippines, and Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital.

The DOH is also converting public spaces like open fields with tents and vacant hotels into treatment and monitoring facilities, adding a total capacity of 4,413 beds.

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III visited two passenger vessels that will serve as quarantine facilities for returning Filipino migrant workers and seafarers, accommodating up to 1,100 individuals.
