Philippines logs 5,823 new COVID-19 cases; active tally at 66K

The Philippines recorded 5,823 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, bringing the total active cases to 66,838.

Of these, 79.1% are mild, 6.1% asymptomatic, 8.33% moderate, 4.6% severe, and 1.9% critical.

Total recoveries increased by 4,748 to 2,637,531 while the death toll rose to 41,520 with 283 new fatalities.

On Thursday, the DOH reported 4,806 new cases, pushing total infections to 2,740,111 and active cases to 65,835.

The weekly average daily new cases are returning to pre-surge levels with a decrease from September's peak of 20,574 daily cases to an average of 6,452 per day in the previous week.
