DoH reports 4,393 new COVID-19 cases, deaths top 42,000

The Department of Health (DoH) reported 4,393 new coronavirus infections on Tuesday, bringing the total cases to nearly 2.8 million and surpassing 42,000 deaths.

On Sunday, DoH logged 5,279 new COVID-19 infections with an additional 208 deaths, increasing the death toll to 41,793.

Active cases stood at 53,642 on Tuesday and 60,957 on Sunday, with varying percentages of mild, asymptomatic, severe, moderate, and critical cases.

ICU occupancy rates in Metro Manila were at 53% for both days, while the national rate was 47% on Tuesday and 46% on Sunday.

The country's coronavirus reproduction number was reported to be below the critical cutoff of 1.4 by OCTA Research Group fellow Fredegusto P. David.
