Philippines logs 3,651 new COVID-19 cases, active tally falls

The Philippines reported 3,651 new coronavirus infections on Wednesday, marking the second consecutive day with fewer than 5,000 cases.

Total confirmed cases reached 3.62 million while recoveries increased by 12,834 to 3.47 million.

Active cases dropped to 96,326, with 95% showing mild symptoms or being asymptomatic.

The positivity rate was at 16.5%, above the WHO-recommended threshold of 5%. The top regions for new cases in the past two weeks were Western Visayas (523), Metro Manila (484), and Calabarzon (414).
