Philippines logs 14.5K new infections, active cases down

The number of new Covid-19 cases and active cases in the Philippines has continued to decline.

On Monday, January 31, the DOH reported 14,546 new infections, bringing total active cases down to 190,818 from Sunday's 202,604.

Of these active cases, 177,584 have mild symptoms, 8,239 are asymptomatic, and the rest have moderate, severe or critical conditions.

The recovery rate increased with 25,600 new recoveries reported on Monday, bringing total recoveries to 3,315,381 (93.1% of all infections).

There were also 112 new deaths recorded, raising the death toll to 54,003.

The positivity rate based on Saturday's tests was 28.4%. The regions with the most recent cases are Western Visayas, NCR and Calabarzon.
