DOH: Jan COVID-19 minors' cases 69.2% aged 0-11

In January 2022, 69.2% of reported COVID-19 cases among minors were children aged 0 to 11.

The DOH noted that during the Omicron wave, cases among the 0-11 age group increased compared to the Delta period when it was around 56%.

While daily infections are declining, they remain higher than pre-Omicron levels, with the Philippines currently under moderate risk classification after being in critical status on January 10.

Health officials observed a negative growth rate in cases over the last two weeks but emphasized that vigilance is still necessary as the virus continues to evolve.
