Zubiri urges mass production of local COVID-19 test kits

Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri urged the government and UP to mass-produce the locally-developed COVID-19 test kit.

Zubiri emphasized that making these test kits more affordable and accessible would allow for testing a larger number of patients.

On Monday, March 9, senators expressed concern over the limited availability of testing kits, with RITM stating they only have enough for 2,000 tests.

Dr. Rosanna Ditangco from RITM testified that additional funding is needed to procure more testing kits and equipment.

The Food and Drug Administration approved the use of these test kits on Tuesday.
