Philippines has 6.6% COVID-19 case fatality rate

The Philippines has a case fatality rate (CFR) for COVID-19 of 6.6%, according to the DOH, which is slightly higher than the global average of 6.4%.

Health Undersecretary Lilibeth David noted that Italy and Spain have higher CFRs at 12.9% and 10.5%, respectively.

David also stated that while the Philippines has the highest number of cases in Southeast Asia, it only contributes 0.28% to global confirmed cases and deaths.

As of April 13, WHO data shows the Philippines recorded the second-highest number of COVID-19 deaths (315) and the most confirmed cases (4,932) in Southeast Asia.
