FDA approves AstraZeneca's COVID-19 vaccine for emergency use

The Philippine Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the emergency use of AstraZeneca's COVID-19 vaccine, making it the second to receive EUA after Pfizer.

Dr. Eric Domingo, FDA Director General, stated that interim data from Phase 3 trials show an efficacy rate of 70% after the first dose and no significant safety concerns.

The vaccine requires a second dose four to twelve weeks after the initial dose for full effectiveness.
