FDA gives favorable recommendation for AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine

The Philippine Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has given favorable recommendations for AstraZeneca's COVID-19 vaccine after completing its evaluation.

Dr. Eric Domingo, FDA director general, stated that both technical/quality and safety/efficacy aspects have been positively reviewed.

Domingo assured that the decision on granting emergency use authorization (EUA) will be made within the week.

The FDA chief also defended the agency's thoroughness in evaluating vaccine applications, emphasizing that it is not moving slowly but ensuring quality and safety.
