PH coronavirus cases hit 6,599; death toll reaches 437

As of Tuesday, April 21, the total number of coronavirus cases in the Philippines reached 6,599 with deaths at 437.

The Department of Health reported 140 new cases and nine additional fatalities on Tuesday.

On Monday, April 20, there were 200 new cases recorded, increasing the total to 6,459; 19 more people died, raising the death toll to 428.

The DOH also reported 41 recoveries on both days, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 654 as of Tuesday.

Health experts estimate that cases in the Philippines may reach between 26,000 and 75,000 by year-end.

The lockdown in Metro Manila and Luzon was extended until April 30 due to insufficient evidence that the outbreak has peaked.
