Philippines' daily COVID-19 tests reach 60K

Philippines' daily average number of COVID-19 tests has reached 60,000 amid the surge in cases.

Testing czar Vince Dizon stated this is an increase from around 40,000 tests before the current wave of infections.

The government has deployed antigen test kits to local government units and hospitals within the National Capital Region plus bubble areas to boost testing capacity.

Additionally, over 10,000 reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests were added daily from the previous capacity of over 50,000.

The target is to conduct 30,000 antigen tests per day in NCR Plus and nearby provinces, with 100,000 antigen testing kits distributed last weekend and an additional 400,000 planned for this week.
