GenSan monitors possible UK variant infections

General Santos City is monitoring possible new infections related to its first case of the COVID-19 UK variant, confirmed on Monday.

City health officials have sent samples from a new case and are awaiting results from 22 close contacts.

The patient was an authorized person outside residence (APOR) who tested positive after arriving in the city on March 21.

Health authorities detected at least 18 confirmed cases among first to fourth-level close contacts, with four new positives identified.

City officials are urging residents to comply with minimum health standards to prevent another surge of cases.
