Petro Gazz adds outside hitter Giovanna Day for AVC Champions League

Petro Gazz has secured a new reinforcement ahead of the 2025 Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Women's Champions League with former Baylor and Maryland University outside hitter Giovanna Milana Day joining the squad.

The competition, set to begin on Easter Sunday at the PhilSports Arena from April 20-27, features 12 teams divided into four pools of three for the preliminary round.

Petro Gazz will compete in Pool B alongside Kaohsiung Taipower of Chinese-Taipei and Hip Hing of Hong Kong, while Creamline is placed in Pool A with Zhetysu of Kazakhstan and Al Naser of Jordan.

Each team can have up to three foreign players, including Day who will play alongside Fil-Ams Brooke Van Sickle and MJ Philips under Japanese coach Koji Tsuzurabara, who previously coached Taipower's national team.

The top two teams from each pool advance to the quarterfinals with Pool A facing Pool D and Pool B competing against Pool C, where the winner and runner-up qualify for the 14th FIVB Women's Volleyball Club World Championships.
