Petecio wins bronze in women's boxing 57kg at Paris Olympics

Nesthy Petecio secured a bronze medal in the women's boxing 57kg event at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Sunday.

Petecio lost to Poland's Julia Szeremeta in the semifinals but still earned a bronze medal as reaching that stage guarantees an Olympic bronze.

Chinese Taipei's Lin Yu-Ting won gold, while Szeremeta took silver; Esra Yildiz Kahraman from Turkey also received a bronze medal.

This is Petecio's second Olympic medal after winning silver in Tokyo three years ago, making her part of the Philippines' list of multi-medalists alongside Carlos Yulo, Hidilyn Diaz, and Teofilo Yldefonso.

The Philippines concluded its Olympic campaign with two gold medals from gymnastics and two bronze medals from boxing.
