Petecio decides to chase Olympic gold after SEA Games triumph

Nesthy Petecio, a 31-year-old boxer from Davao del Sur, has decided to continue her career with the goal of winning an Olympic gold medal in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Petecio recently reclaimed her women's featherweight title at the Southeast Asian Games in Phnom Penh on Sunday night, defeating Indonesia’s Ratna Sari Devi.

Despite achieving significant success including a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics and financial stability from her winnings, Petecio found renewed motivation to pursue gold.

She dedicated her victory to her brother Norlan, who won a silver medal in the men’s welterweight finals.
