Paalam, Bascon lead 9 PH boxers to SEA Games boxing finals

Tokyo Olympics silver medalist Carlo Paalam and Paul Bascon advanced to the finals of the boxing competition at the 32nd Southeast Asian Games on Thursday, joining seven other Filipino boxers who also secured spots in the gold medal round.

Paalam defeated Edegar Foe Quintas Da Silva of Timor Leste via unanimous decision, while Bascon knocked out Touch Davit of Cambodia in the second round.

Nine Filipino boxers will compete for gold medals on Saturday and Sunday, with Marcus Manalo, secretary general of the Association of Boxing Alliances in the Philippines (Abap), emphasizing the need to stay focused despite securing multiple spots in the finals.
