Marcos directs agencies to ensure traveler safety during Holy Week

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has directed government agencies to ensure the safety and convenience of Filipino travelers during the Holy Week break, which coincides with summer vacation.

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) will conduct strict inspections at terminals, ports, and airports to prevent delays or accidents during this period, deploying additional personnel as needed.

Palace Press Officer Claire Castro emphasized that measures are in place to monitor the expected exodus of the public to the provinces for the traditional annual break, with the President closely monitoring through concerned agencies.

The Philippine National Police will deploy more than 40,000 officers nationwide under 'Oplan Ligtas SumVac 2025' to secure travelers during Holy Week and summer vacation, while police regional offices conduct regular inspections in crowded places.

The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) expects a substantial increase in passenger volume this year, projecting 1.73 million passengers for the Holy Week period, which is 3.5% higher than last year's 1.67 million.
